‘Dexter’ is a big ham! Looks like a warmblood, you’d only know he was a thoroughbred if you check his lip. Has 3 big, expressive, but easy to ride gaits. Is very sweet and good to handle in the barn. Enjoys grooming and is great to stand to be tacked up and stands quietly at the mounting block. Has a resume of eventing through the Novice level with his previous owner. Has been owned by AAs his entire off the track career, and is available simply due to time constraints.
Dexter enjoys jumping just as much as he enjoys his flat work! He is more of a kick ride to the fences, with a scopey jump. He is very brave to the cross country elements including ditches, water, and banks. Goes in a fat snaffle for both jumping phases as well.
Has a PPE from just a few months ago with lots of x-rays, as well as x-ray record from previous owner. All looks great!
Currently in 4 flat shoes with no special maintenance or requirements. Has been in a variety of turnout/management situations and is happy in all of them including individual, 24/7 turn out. Currently goes out for about a half a day alone. Is great in his stall, and a very tidy guy!
Dexter is very light in the bridle and goes in a snaffle. Not a particularly forward ride, not overly sensitive or reactive. Happy to show up and go to work every day with a great, trainable attitude. Has been used for intermediate flat lessons and is a great, patient teacher. Bottom grouping of photos shown with 15 yo student, in their first session together.
